Norbert says:
A rather small winery with 14 hectares of vineyards. The Vieux Château Certan was once considered the most elegant Pomerol with the greatest finesse, but was surpassed by Petrus after the Second World War. The winery benefits from its exceptional location. An impenetrably dense crimson, the 2004, a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, offers phenomenal sweet aromas of black cherry liqueur interwoven with charcoal, vanilla, new saddle leather and hints of fruitcake. It is full-bodied and opulent with low acidity, ripe tannins and a remarkably layered, oily texture that has more in common with the 2000 vintage than the 2002 vintage. A brilliant achievement. Estimated maturity now until 2030.
