Norbert says:
Rol Valentin was among the first estates in St Emilion to emulate Valandraud and introduce a progressive style of winemaking. Early trials were promising, propelling the estate into the small group of those St Emilion-Château x now in the limelight in Bordeaux. 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec, the cuvée is 1999. Dark ruby garnet, violet reflections, delicate rim lightening. Fine herbal spices, red berry nuances, delicately of cranberries, pickled cherry fruit, fresh orange zest, some vanilla. Red berries, a hint of figs, ripe, well-integrated tannins, elegantly ripe and persistent. Expected maturity now until 2028.
