2007 Château Bellevue Mondotte Saint Emilion Grand Cru
2007 Château Bellevue Mondotte Saint Emilion Grand Cru
Norbert says:
Vineyard area 2 ha, a maximum of 4000 bottles are produced. The 2007 Bellevue Mondotte, a new award, suspect wine from Gerard and Chantal is extreme! Produced in tiny quantities, this cuvée has undoubtedly fetched an astronomical price when you see what the other wines from Perse, Pavie, Pavie Decesse and Monbousquet cost. But lovers for whom it is not too expensive can be assured that the appropriate quality is there. The 2007 Bellevue Mondotte comes from a 2 ha vineyard near Pavie Decesse, the quality of the 2007 is unquestionable. Its dry, port-like blackberry, liquorice and cassis aromas and flavors spill through the nose and palate like a runaway Rabelaian phantasmagoria. The wine is extremely full-bodied, oily, unusual for this vintage and immensely persistent. It seems almost exaggerated and too heavy, but it is an exciting feat of vinification. Estimated maturity now until 2030.
